In 2018 The distillery decided not to send any single barrels out to the entire country because of supply issues so this will be out first barrel since then. Eagle rare is always one of our favorite barrels to pick and this one does not disappoint.

On first impression notes of thick caramel and vanilla bean dominate the nose. Mouthfeel is weighty and lush bringing way to more caramel, dark chocolate and stone fruit with a slight toffee backing reminiscent of a cadbury fruit and nut bar. Slight burnt toffee along with hints of cherry and some baking spice round out the finish making you long for that next sip.

So excited to announce the arrival of our Elijah Craig Single barrel bourbon. This particular barrel was rested for 8 years in Rickhouse EE on the 6th floor. (one of our favorite warehouses so no surprise it outshined the other 9 and 10 year old barrels that we put against it) It rang in at a monster 133 proof out of the cask before being proofed down to 94 at bottling.

Of all the Elijah Craig barrels we had tasted on this trip this one was a clear cut winner. Boasting a heavy dose of nutty caramel on the nose, a mouthful of cherries on the palate and a slightly sweet dusting of baking spice and stone fruits on the long long finish, this is the perfect accompaniment to a crisp fall night or a decadent treat after dinner.

Excited to announce the arrival of our Redstone Barrel Society Single barrel pick of Blanton’s Bourbon. This Bourbon was barreled was November 20th of this year at 93 proof. This barrel brimms of freshly cut crisp green apples and caramel from the nose all the way through the finish, Weighty mouthfeel and silky finish making you eagar for that next sip.  

Due the recent popularity of Blanton’s we have to limit these to 3 bottles per customer though the week to help spread around the love. This barrel yield was only 246 bottles. We are proud to host Brent Elliott, Master Distiller for Four Roses Bourbon. He will be pouring samples signing bottles and talking bourbon from 12-2pm Saturday February 24th at our Stoneham location.

A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, Brent became Master Distiller at Four Roses Bourbon in September 2015 and he is uniquely qualified for this role… after all, he’s been helping Four Roses select exquisite barrels of Bourbon at their peak of maturation for the past ten years, working closely with former Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge.

As the Distillery’s Director of Quality, Brent’s decade of experience with Four Roses includes everything from applying his Chemistry degree to evaluate Bourbons in the tasting lab, to taking part in the selection of barrels for special Single Barrel bottlings and Limited Edition products. Brent applies his on-the-job experience to his role of Master Distiller, ensuring that each Four Roses product has the fruity, smooth and mellow character, along with a hint of spice, that the brand has become known for around the world.

Every stage of the distillation process is critical and you’ll find Brent’s heart and soul in every one of them.

It’s every whiskey drinker’s favorite time of year. When many of the best-known distilleries around the US release their flagships, not to mention some of the highest rated whiskies start hitting the shelves. The only issue is there is never enough of these releases to go around. Our solution is the Whiskey Draft raffle. (Again this raffle is for a chance to Purchase some of these rare bottles at MSRP)

With the success and the fun of past years drafts we have once again decided this to be the best and most fair way of rewarding our customers with a strong chance of scoring some of this rare whiskey (at MSRP)

On Tuesday December 5th we will draw from the stack of raffle tickets collected to create a Draft order. First overall pick gets their pick of which whiskey they wish to purchase from the pool. Second pick get to chose from the pool of whats left and so on…

If we draw your name multiple times you will get moved up in the list. (the folks with the most tickets drawn will move up in the draft based on number of time we pull their ticket). For those that only get picked once your spot on the list depends on the order it was picked.

We are proud to welcome the arrival of our latest Redstone Barrel Society Single barrel Bourbon. This Knob Creek single barrel was hand selected in Kentucky for you from us. It has been resting on the 4th floor, Rick 6, Tier 3 in warehouse W since November 14th of 2003 (Bottled at 13 years and 8 months!). Right from the barrel this Bourbon yields a high 134.3 proof, however before bottling these were proofed down to 120 proof to dissipate the heat but preserve the weighty mouthfeel.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Oak and spice accompanied by a harem of ripe cherries with slight hints of caramel and vanilla

Palate: Loads of dark chocolate, baking spice and stewed cherries all intermingle on the front palate. Reminiscent of a baked cherry pie dusted in thick layer of mocha.

Finish: Leaves you with a long woodsy fall spice and mouthful of cherries for days.

We are super excited to introduce the arrival of our own Bespoke Makers Mark 46 Private Select Single barrel. When we say bespoke we truly do mean custom made for you from us.

For those familiar with Makers 46 know that Makers Mark ages their bourbon over seasoned oak staves to impart a bolder more refined expression of Makers Mark. This barrel program took things a bit further as we got to choose a combination of unique staves (10 in total) to age our Cask Strength Makers Mark in.

Our particular recipe was the only one of its kind chosen in the country. We went with 3 Seared Cuvèe staves to impart a bold body and mouthfeel (think maple syrup and caramel), 2 toasted french spice staves to give hints of cherry and spice in the mid palate and rounded it off with 5 Roasted French Mocha staves to give a long dusted mocha finish. The final product is proofed at 110.8

We not only hand fed these staves into the barrel, we also hand filled the barrel, hammered in the bung and even hand signed each bottle to really place our stamp on this custom bottling. We hope that you enjoy this as much as we did. (see Video below)

We are excited to offer our customers the very 1st 1792 full proof single barrel selection in the state of Massachusetts.

This barrel rang in at 125 proof and bottled Un-Chill Filtered, giving way to a weighty and quite hearty mouthfeel. The most surprising aspect of the barrel is the softness up front with very little heat in relation to the 125 proof making this one of the “smoothest” barrels that we have ever selected.

As for taste, the creamy, soft but weighty mouthfeel gives hints of honey dipped caramelized dark cherries with vanilla and oak on the finish. The only heat from this barrel will slowly creep up to the tip of the tongue leaving it asking for your next sip.

We think that you will enjoy this barrel as much as we do and are sure that it will not last long. This barrel only yielded 180 bottles so get yours before it’s too late. Price for a 750ML bottle is $44.99.

Al from Buffalo trace distillery will be here on Wednesday January 11th from 6-7pm hosting a private classroom event at our tasting center in Stoneham.

He will be sampling you through their lineup of world class Bourbon as well as giving a guided tour of what goes into making each expression truly one of a kind.
