Redstone Exclusive: Glendalough Distillery Triple barrel Irish whiskey. https://dev.redstoneliquors.com/redstone-exclusive-glendalough-distillery-triple-barrel-irish-whiskey/ Tue, 01 Dec 2015 03:53:07 +0000 http://www.redstoneliquors.com/?p=14250 IMG-20151111-WA0014

Ireland’s first craft distillery gives you a whole new style of Irish whiskey. A single grain whiskey, aged first in American Bourbon barrels and finished in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks.

This single grain blasts the cobwebs off the Irish whiskey category. A new and unique style of light and floral whiskey distilled in a Coffey still (like whiskey, another great Irish invention!) from a mash bill of Irish malted barley and corn.

It spends three and a half years in American oak first-fill Bourbon barrels before being finished for six months in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. The Bourbon barrels impart deep, robust chocolate and caramel notes, while the Oloroso casks lighten the palate with fruitier notes and touches of nutty tones. With both barrels being oak, you get that beautiful vanilla thread you’d expect to run through an Irish whiskey. Both barrels are porous too, allowing Ireland’s temperate, maritime air through to make its impression.

The folks at Glendalough came across 6 Madeira wine casks and decided to take their double barrel whiskey (described above) and finish if off in these casks. Glendalough Triple barrel was born. Rather then use them for a one time batch they decided to select a few places the opportunity to offer their customers the chance at getting a truly unique whiskey. Redstone Liquors was fortunate to pick out one of these barrels for OUR great customers.

Our exclusive barrel of this whiskey is now available at both our Andover and Stoneham locations for a limited time only in 750ml bottles. The bottles cost $37.99 and are going fast so secure yours today before they are all gone.

Cheers!
