We are excited to announce the arrival of our hand selected single barrel of Four Roses bourbon! This barrel happens to also be one of our favorite recipes, OESV. The OESV recipe mingles four roses high corn (75%) mash bill with the “V” yeast strain which according to four roses is known to produce a delicate fruit profile.

This barrel in particular exudes tons of vanilla and slight toasted caramel reminiscent of a rich crème brûlée. Let it breath for a moment and revisit to find notes of dark cherry lingering on the long finish. Mouthfeel for days and rings in at a modest 112.4 proof with very minimal heat. Should also note this barrel was also bottled a couple of weeks shy of its 10th birthday and came from warehouse LE which is especially known for its spectacular liquid.

This selection will also be the first barrel of our Gauntlet series. Select Redstone barrel society barrels this year will be part of this series. Each bottle will come with a unique color “Infinity Redstone” wax seal on the side along with a sticker identifying the unique stone on our RL gauntlet.

Only 96 Bottles will go on sale at 1pm this Wednesday July 31st at our Stoneham location for $79.99/750ml and will be limited to 1 bottle per person. Kam-al Young is an OESV recipe which represents a high corn mashbill and Delicate Fruit yeast strain. Its aged for 9 years 6 month and has a bottling date of January 10th, 2019 and is proofed at 127! Mouthfeel Weighty AF, Cherries dominate with sweet caramel undertones, Finishes sweet with lingering cherries. Did we mention it embodies notes of cherries.

Over the years the legendary Al Young has helped Kamal pick some winners for the store. Al unfortunately was not available during this trip out to KY so Kamal made this pick with Al in mind.

For those who do not know Kamal, he is the guy who tastes and has final say on each and every single barrel that has the Redstone name on it. For those who are familiar with those bottlings know that Kamal LOVES picking high proof caramelized Cherry bombs! This barrel is is exactly that but bigger and bolder with a predominant flavor profile of you guessed it, cherries! Kamal has never and would never put the Redstone name on a barrel he did not feel Redstone customers would love, imagine how good a barrel would have to be if he agreed to let us put his own name on it!

We are proud to host Brent Elliott, Master Distiller for Four Roses Bourbon. He will be pouring samples signing bottles and talking bourbon from 12-2pm Saturday February 24th at our Stoneham location.

A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, Brent became Master Distiller at Four Roses Bourbon in September 2015 and he is uniquely qualified for this role… after all, he’s been helping Four Roses select exquisite barrels of Bourbon at their peak of maturation for the past ten years, working closely with former Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge.

As the Distillery’s Director of Quality, Brent’s decade of experience with Four Roses includes everything from applying his Chemistry degree to evaluate Bourbons in the tasting lab, to taking part in the selection of barrels for special Single Barrel bottlings and Limited Edition products. Brent applies his on-the-job experience to his role of Master Distiller, ensuring that each Four Roses product has the fruity, smooth and mellow character, along with a hint of spice, that the brand has become known for around the world.

Every stage of the distillation process is critical and you’ll find Brent’s heart and soul in every one of them.

We teamed up with Idle hands brewing of Malden to bring you a barrel aged chocolate version of their 34 Robust Porter. They took two of our hand selected barrels of four roses Bourbon (OBSQ and OESQ) aged 34 porter in them and added Taza chocolate nibs! The result is a smooth and creamy porter with loads of dark chocolate and notes of bourbon in the finish. At 7% ABV this Robust porter will leave you wanting more.

Details of this year’s annual Whiskey draft!
It’s every whiskey drinker’s favorite time of year. When many of the best-known distilleries around the US release their flagships, not to mention some of the highest rated whiskies start hitting the shelves. The only issue is there is never enough of these releases to go around. Our solution is the Whiskey Draft raffle. (Again this raffle is for a chance to Purchase some of these rare bottles at MSRP)

We will ALSO be releasing not one but TWO of our hand selected single barrels… the first is our Old Weller antique (Weller 107) this year’s pick is also Non Chill Filtered to add even more to the robust mouthfeel of this world class whiskey. The second is our latest Four Roses hand selected single barrel,(OESV, 120.4proof) this barrel yielding only 30 bottles! (will be limits of 2 per on Weller and 1 per on the 4R)

Limited releases: We will have a number of number of allocated items on hand for some lucky folks to purchase. these releases will be done “cookie jar” style similar to what we did at our anniversary event earlier this year…Rules: a $5 donation (or more its all for a good cause) to shriners children’s hospital will get a pull from the cookie jar, this cookie jar will have raffle tickets for the following allocated items and folks will have a 50% chance to pull out a winning ticket. This barrel is the OBSV recipe which consists of a 35% rye mashbill along with the “delicate fruitiness” yeast strain. It also boasts a strong 126.6 proof which adds to the robust mouthfeel of this Bourbon and was aged for 8 years and 7 months in Kentucky.

Nose: Caramelized cherry, sweet tarts and Cherry pie

Palate: Chewy mouthfeel with hints of baking spices with honey, caramel and cherry on the back end. (with splash of water: cherries come to life in the forefront and spice accentuates a notch, mouthfeel becomes more silky & creamy)

Finish: finishes long with warm toffee and lingering oak. (with splash of water: lingering candied cherries)

We are happy to announce the arrival of our latest hand selected Single barrel Bourbon. This particular Four Roses single barrel Bourbon is a special one indeed as this barrel only yielded a total of 42 bottles! It was bottled at 64.8% (129.6 proof) and hosts the “E” mashbill (75% corn 20% rye and 5% malted barley). The yeast used in this recipe is the “F” strain which is known for its herbal characteristics and was aged 9 years and 10 months.

For those unfamiliar with the Four Roses single barrel  bottlings, each barrel is unique as it will host its own unique character so you are truly getting a one of a kind bottle. While supplies last, each bottle purchased will get a raffle ticket for a chance to purchase a btl of the Four roses limited edition small batch (2016).

Notes: Sweet up front with a punch caramel and spice, notes of apricots and dark fruits creep up in the mid palate leaving you with a seasoned toasted oak, dry citrusy finish leaving you savoring the next sip.

Four Roses Bourbon will release Elliott’s Select, a limited-quantity Single Barrel Bourbon. This barrel-strength Bourbon will be Brent Elliott’s first limited edition release as master distiller.

Brent Elliott, who assumed the post of master distiller in September 2015, personally hand-selected the 14-year-old OESK, one of the Distillery’s 10 unique Bourbon recipes.

Subtle aromas of peach jam, magnolia blossoms and light oak preview the elegantly-balanced flavors of spiced vanilla, fresh nutmeg and delicate, ripe fruits. Sweet flavors of honey and light apricot linger in the finish. Its mellow character from beginning to end is very much a reflection of Elliott himself.

“I’ve always been happiest when I’m so deep into a project that I lose track of time, and that’s exactly what happened when we began the process of selecting barrels for Elliott’s Select,” Elliott said. “There’s something unique about this 14-year-old Bourbon, and now that it has been bottled, I’m looking forward to taking a step back and hearing what our fans think.”

Formerly serving as the Distillery’s director of quality, Elliott’s decade of experience with Four Roses includes everything from applying his chemistry degree to evaluate Bourbons in the tasting lab, to taking part in the selection of barrels for Single Barrel bottlings and limited edition products. Elliott continues to serve as the brand’s director of quality, while also managing his duties as master distiller.

“Being master distiller is something I’ve found difficult to call a job because it’s a privilege and my passion,” said Elliott. “My focus continues to be what got me where I am, and what got the Four Roses brand where it is today, and that’s quality.”

Four Roses will produce and distribute approximately 8,000 hand-numbered bottles of Elliott’s Select in the United States, which are expected to hit retail outlets in June. Elliott’s Select will retail for roughly $125 per bottle.

Four Roses Bourbon will celebrate the release of Elliott’s Select with a series of events throughout the month of June, many coinciding with Kentucky Bourbon Affair in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I’m very proud of this special bottling, and I’m looking forward to sampling the product as I meet with Bourbon fans at various events this summer,” said Elliott.

Four Roses is the only distillery to have 10 unique Bourbon recipes comprised of 2 different mash bills and 5 different yeasts. We sampled through all 10 and picked the 2 that we thought that you would love the most.

The original single barrel recipe on shelves is proofed down to 100 and is comprised of the OBSV recipe. Our barrels are bottled at cask strength and will allow you to taste the 2 different mashbills with the Q (floral) yeast to compare.
